Somewhere under all of the layers, the title of this piece is written on the canvas. As I work to unravel all of the guards I have built up over time, I think about where I am and how I want to feel. What boundaries are justified and where can I start to relax? If painting is a metaphor, than I am working toward being totally free to create and put it out there. I use color because it feels right to me and I add marks because I am full of experiences that have each left their mark - both good and bad. There is beauty in the chaos, it is okay to be uncomfortable with growing.
