A PERFECT MORNING

I woke up around 4am and tipped toed downstairs to find my large dog fully displayed in the sunroom. He slowly opened one eye to make sure it was me and fell back to sleep.

I grabbed several blankets and perched myself in the corner of our L-shaped sofa, layering blankets and pillows around my back and head to create a cocoon from the cold. I turned on the TV and found old episodes of Gossip Girl, reminding me of a time going out and grateful to be done with the drama.

Slowly around 6am, I heard the showers start to turn on and I padded my way into the kitchen. Grabbing a cinnamon bagel from the fridge, I put it in the toaster and slowly pushed down the button to avoid any noise. After spreading thick cream cheese on both sides, I poured a cold glass of orange juice and returned to my cocoon.

This is how all mornings should start.
